Bearly There

Although not on the endangered list, coastal brown bears (also members of the grizzly family) attain a huge size due to the proliferation of salmon and crustaceans they eat.
Nevertheless, hunters prize the bear for their skulls and hides, up to 500 of Alaska's 1,500 brown bears are killed by hunters every year....and for what??

Fiercely protective yet gentle mothers, the female brown bear must sometimes have to protect her young from the males, who may be nearly twice her size and weight.
Sadly this can be reflected in our own society.
