You are looking at one painting. The top image is how you would enjoy it during the day.  However it absorbs light through the day, so in the evening it will illuminate as shown in the bottom photograph.  Cool? Cool!

 

The Flame Nebula, NGC2024, is part of a vast star forming region known as the Great Orion Molecular Cloud complex. It is found in the Orion constellation. It is illuminated by the easternmost star in the Alntak, or Orion's belt. It is an emissions  nebula and is approximately 1400 light years away.
